An atom-economic approach to carboxylic acids via Pd-catalyzed direct addition of formic acid to olefins with acetic anhydride as a co-catalyst.

An effective Pd-catalyzed hydrocarboxylation of olefins using formic acid with acetic anhydride as a co-catalyst is described. A variety of carboxylic acids are obtained in good yields with high regioselectivities under mild reaction conditions without the use of toxic CO gas.

Pd(II)-catalyzed decarboxylative allylation and Heck-coupling of arene carboxylates with allylic halides and esters.

This work demonstrates an alternative method to prepare allylated arenes and aryl-substituted allylic esters via catalytic decarboxylative C-C bond formation using aromatic carboxylic acids and allylic halides and esters.

Ultra - rapid carbonylation using palladium ( I ) dimer precatalysts applied to 11 CO - radiolabelling for PET

Palladium dimers with sterically hindered phosphines have been shown to be excellent precatalyst for the aminocarbonylation reaction of aryl halides to yield amides. Two particularly relevant features of some of these catalytic systems are that they operate at atmospheric pressure of CO and that they give high yields of the corresponding amide within very short periods of time (under 10 minutes...

Mild ketone formation via Ni-catalyzed reductive coupling of unactivated alkyl halides with acid anhydrides.

Ni-catalyzed ketone formation through mild reductive coupling of a diverse set of unactivated alkyl bromides and iodides with particularly aryl acid anhydrides was successfully developed using zinc as the terminal reductant. These conditions also allow direct coupling of alkyl iodides with aryl acids in the presence of Boc(2)O and MgCl(2).

Palladium-catalyzed direct carboxylation of aryl bromides with carbon dioxide.

A novel protocol for the direct carbon dioxide insertion (CO(2)) into aryl halides in a catalytic manner is presented herein. Unlike other carboxylation methods using CO(2), there is no need for the synthesis of the corresponding organometallic intermediates. Additionally, and in contrast to the well-established carbonylation processes, our protocol does not use highly toxic CO for the preparat...
